Today was my last Juilliard concert of the year/my last PCS concert ever (because next year I’ll be in PCO). My friends and I are all going to different music festivals this summer, so we won’t really be able to keep in touch. I’m going to miss these people more than I could even explain this summer! I can’t believe it’s over already :/

Oh the concert was fantastic by the way ;)

my babyyyyyyyy V

nyphil:

Congratulations, Glenn!

Philharmonic Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow has been nominated to become the first Robert Mann Chair in Strings and Chamber Music at the University of South California’s Thornton School of Music. He will be stepping down from his position as the end of the 2013–14 season after a 34-year tenure — the longest of any New York Philharmonic Concertmaster.

Luckily, we still have plenty of time to celebrate Glenn and plenty of music to make.

Awww Glenn, I’ll miss you <3

Things that were created to torture me:

  • the A at the beginning of the Rienzi overture- yes, I am playing the very first note of the entire PCS concert this Saturday…. -_-

Tomorrow I’m playing taps at my school’s Memorial Day ceremony

1

I do it every year, as well as actually on memorial day a bunch of times.

It’s the one time that I know that I’m actually making a difference for someone out there because to a lot of people taps really means something. I always get a ridiculous amount of thanks from the veterans/cops/other random people, and in my head I’m always like “well you’re welcome, but you shouldn’t even be thanking me, why wouldn’t I do this for you?

Ehh I think that the majority of Americans have to remember that Memorial Day isn’t actually about parades and bbq, it actually has significance, like a lot of significance.

Okay, so

I need to find a way to get to Dillon before I leave for the summer because I need to get another 3C and open up the throat to a 24 and see if that makes playing my Yamaha C a little bit easier until I get back in August and can look for a good Bach C. So I’m going to try this because my band director (who has a performance degree in trumpet from MSM and who I trust more than most people) has suggested that I try it multiple times so I guess it’s time to actually listen to him.

Yeah.

"What's the "period trick" ?"

oh man, I’m about to make my secrets public. I think I might need some persuasion to let this one out….
